We’re excited to announce the launch of Sentinel’s new interactive map. This map represents Sentinel dVPN nodes and active nodes for Hosted Handshake Network Resolution (HNS). This map also allows users to filter between views of Sentinel nodes that support the Wireguard and V2Ray protocols.

The project’s code will soon be open sourced, turning the interactive node map into a community-built utility. Contributors are free to fork and improve the map, including functionality as well as design.

Handshake is a decentralized naming system built on top of the Handshake blockchain. It is designed to replace the traditional Domain Name System (DNS) and allows anyone to register and manage top-level domains without a central authority or intermediary. A handshake interpreter is a node in the handshake network that is responsible for translating domain names into IP addresses.

There are currently nearly 100 handshake interpreters hosted by dVPN nodes in the Sentinel ecosystem, and Sentinel contributes a large percentage of HNS resolvers hosted globally. Currently, only dVPN nodes that support Wireguard can host HNS resolvers; support for V2Ray nodes will be added in the future.

Sentinel’s decentralized spirit and privacy rights are identical to the handshake. Both projects are working to create a more decentralized and secure Internet. Handshake promotes a more open and decentralized Internet by allowing anyone to register and manage top-level domains without a central authority. Likewise, Sentinel’s dVPN ecosystem provides users with a secure and informal way to connect to the Internet without a central authority or intermediary.

The launch of the interactive node map marks the restart of the node incentive program. Retroactive rewards are currently being calculated and will be paid out soon, and new terms for the upcoming Node Incentive Program will be announced. Let’s get our node count back to 4 digits or more!

More utilities are coming soon, including leaderboards, dedicated network statistics charts, and more.
