Unprecedented Warmth Hits Korea in December

The morning temperatures across South Korea today are breaking records for the month of December, with most parts of the country experiencing temperatures significantly higher than the normal range of 15 to 20 degrees.

Current Temperature Levels

In Seoul, the current temperature is 13.7 degrees, a level more commonly seen in mid-May. Gangneung is experiencing 16.2 degrees, Busan 14.9 degrees, and Seogwipo 13.1 degrees.

Weather Forecast

Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 15 to 20 degrees with cloudy skies. Fine dust is anticipated to move in from the northeast in the afternoon, leading to poor air quality in the metropolitan area, Gangwon-do, and South Chungcheong Province. Cloud cover is expected to increase in Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk regions at night, with intermittent clouds passing through other parts of the country. Rainfall is forecasted for the northeastern regions of Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon in the afternoon.

Temperature Outlook

The maximum daytime temperature is expected to reach around 16 degrees in Seoul and approximately 19 degrees in Gwangju and Daegu. This high-temperature phenomenon is projected to gradually ease starting today.

From today onwards, the high temperature phenomenon will gradually ease.
