Singer-songwriter Uru is releasing a new single, “Kyou to Iu Hi wo” (The Day Called Today), as the theme song for the upcoming film Kyojou Requiem, the second part of a two-part series finale. The single dropped digitally on February 9, 2026, with the film set to premiere in Japanese theaters on February 20, 2026.

The music video for “Kyou to Iu Hi wo,” directed by Masanori Tanimoto, premiered on YouTube the same day as the single’s release at 8 PM JST. Actor Riku Onishi stars in the video, portraying a student navigating challenges and approaching graduation. Uru described her approach to the song as imbuing it with “a deep affection, a quiet watchfulness, within its few words.”

The release of the single coincides with the announcement of Uru’s new album, tone, which is scheduled for release on February 18, 2026. The album will be available in three physical editions: a limited “video” edition featuring a Blu-ray of her 2023 live show, a limited “cover” edition including a second CD of cover songs, and a standard edition.

tone boasts a 15-track listing that includes several recent theme songs for prominent Japanese productions. These include “Ambivalent,” which served as the opening theme for the second cour of the anime The Apothecary Diaries; “Never ends,” featured in the TBS drama DOPE; “Tegami (Letter),” composed for the film Yukikaze; and “Sobara nite Tsukiyo (By Your Side on a Moonlit Night),” originally provided by back number for the film Kusunoki no Bannin.

The limited “cover” edition of tone will feature newly recorded versions of eight songs, including “Ao to Natsu” (originally by Mrs. GREEN APPLE), “Shiawase na Ketsumatsu” (originally by Eiichi Ohtaki), and “Tatoeba” (originally by Masashi Sada). Additional covers include “Hitomi o Tojite” (Ken Hirai), “Niji” (Masaki Suda), “Kizutsukeru” (CreepHyp), “Aliens” (Kirinji), and “Rendezvous” (Shitoope).

Uru is also embarking on a national hall tour, “Uru Tour 2026 ‘tone’,” spanning from July to October 2026, with performances scheduled in Osaka, Saitama, Aichi, Tokyo, and Hyogo.

Kyojou Requiem is the concluding chapter of a series that began with Kyojou Reunion, which began streaming on Netflix on January 1, 2026. The film stars Takuya Kimura and represents the culmination of the storyline introduced in the first installment.

The release of “Kyou to Iu Hi wo” and the forthcoming album tone mark a significant moment in Uru’s career, solidifying her position as a sought-after artist for film and television soundtracks. Her ability to craft emotionally resonant songs that complement visual narratives has become a hallmark of her work, as evidenced by her contributions to popular series like The Apothecary Diaries and DOPE. The tour announcement further underscores her growing popularity and demand for live performances.

Pre-save and pre-order options for both the single and the album are currently available. The music video for “Kyou to Iu Hi wo” can be viewed on YouTube.
