[디지털투데이 AI리포터] The Verge, a computer media, reported on the 12th (local time) that Brendan Carr, a member of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), requested an investigation into Apple’s response to the Beeper Mini Android app.

Beeper Mini is an app that allows Android users to use Apple’s messaging service, iMessage. However, Apple has blocked the Beeper Mini service and it is no longer possible to use it.

As a result, Commissioner Brendan Carr said, “In accordance with FCC Part 14 regulations, iMessage, an advanced communications service, must ensure the accessibility of service apps like Beeper Mini.” His thesis is that Apple may have violated FCC regulations by discontinuing production of the Beeper Mini. Commissioner Brendan Carr also pointed out, “iMessage, which features a blue speech bubble, has low contrast in the color of the speech bubble, making the message difficult for people who are visually impaired or visually impaired to read the message.”

In response, Commissioner Brendan Carr reportedly contacted FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel, but received no response.

Commissioner Brendan Carr said that “Apple treats its proprietary technology in one way and undermines the performance of competing technologies,” adding that “this could have potentially negative consequences.” However, to date, the FCC has not announced any investigation plans or any position on the matter.
