US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has arrived in Doha on an official visit. Blinken is touring Qatar with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The two arrived at Pearl Palace after a warm welcome at the airport and met with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. On behalf of President Joe Biden, Blinkan thanked the Emir for Qatar’s intervention to rescue those trapped, including U.S. citizens and officials. The leaders then discussed the latest situation in Afghanistan. According to Qatar’s national media, the talks focused on the need to restore peace and security in Afghanistan as soon as possible. The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen friendly diplomatic ties between the two countries.
As part of the tour, he may visit the Afghan refugee camp Blinken in Doha. Blinken will then return to Germany tomorrow. Meanwhile, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will be touring more Gulf countries
