US Senate Passes $95 Billion Aid Package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan

The US Senate passed a bill yesterday (23rd) that provides $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

The Senedd passed this measure, which had been passed by the House of Representatives on the 20th, with 79 votes in favor to 18 against.

This bill will come into effect immediately if President Joe Biden signs it today (24th).

President Biden welcomed the passage of the bill in a statement yesterday, saying, “Tonight, the bipartisan majority of the Senate joined the House of Representatives (in its decision) to respond to the demands of history at a critical inflection point.”

President Biden thanked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, and members of both parties in the Senate for supporting the bill “This important legislation will help us protect ourselves from terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like Putin,” he said. By supporting our friends in defense, we will make our country and the world safer,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Ukraine faces constant bombing from Russia, Israel faces unprecedented attacks from Iran, refugees affected by international conflicts and natural disasters in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and Haiti, and the pursuit of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific he explained that the needs of the partners were urgent.

President Biden continued, “We will firmly defend democracy and freedom, and we will stand against tyranny and tyranny.”
