Vetrimaran, a prominent figure in the new generation of Tamil directors, has once again showcased his determination and skill in the production of his latest film, Viduthalai Part 1. Despite encountering numerous challenges during the filming process, including budget constraints and logistical issues, Vetrimaran persevered and successfully completed the first part of his highly anticipated project.

Initially envisioned to be completed within a budget of Rs 4 crore, the period action crime thriller starring Suri and Vijay Sethupathi proved to be a demanding endeavor. Vetrimaran discovered that only 10 percent of the scenes could be completed in 20 days, with a staggering 70% of the budget allocated towards equipment transportation. Faced with this unexpected setback, Vetrimaran promptly informed the producer, Elred Kumar, of the predicament.

Despite initial suggestions to put the project on hold or consider alternative filmmaking options, Vetrimaran remained committed to seeing the project through. With the unwavering support of his team and the timely intervention of actor Vijay Sethupathi, the film was able to secure the necessary resources and eventually sold for a substantial amount. Following 120 days of extensive filming, it was decided to release the film in two parts, leading to script modifications and creative adjustments.

Looking towards the future, Vetrimaran confirms that the second part of the film is nearing completion and is poised to embark on its cinematic journey. Audiences can anticipate the release of Viduthalai Part 2 in early 2024, further cementing Vetrimaran’s reputation as an innovative and resilient filmmaker in the Tamil industry.

Vetrimaran is a man who has made his own place in the new generation of Tamil directors with the content and presentation of his films. Vetrimaran, who made his debut in 2007 with the Dhanush Pollathavan starrer, has already directed seven films. His last film directed by him is Vithutalai Part 1 which released this year. Now he talks about some special situations he faced during the production of that film. It is about several times the expected budget.

The period action crime thriller starring Suri and Vijay Sethupathi was produced by Elred Kumar. Vetrimaran says this is a film that was initially thought to be completed for Rs 4 crore. But when he visited the sets for the film, he realized that only 10 percent of the scenes could be completed in 20 days. 70% of the budget was spent on moving the equipment from one place to another. He also says that when he realized that the film would not be completed within the set budget, he informed the producer about it.

Viduthalai even told him to hold off for now and watch another movie. But when we thought about the time, energy and money that had gone into this project, we didn’t want to give up. Then think about changing location to reduce costs. But there we could not get the desired result. But Vijay Sethupathi came as a saviour. The film sold for a good amount. After 120 days of shooting, it was decided to release the film in two parts. So some corrections were made in the script. Vetrimaran says that the second part of the film is almost complete and will now start its holiday journey. Viduthalai Part 2 will release in early 2024.
