VFF General Secretary revealed Quang Hai’s goal against Iraq

General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Duong Nghiep Khoi said that Quang Hai’s goal against Iraq was the result of 20 minutes of important practice that coach Troussier required before the match.

On the afternoon of January 26, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) organized a meeting with journalists and sports reporters on the occasion of Giap Thin spring.

On the sidelines of the meeting, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi shared the memories of the Vietnamese team at the 2023 Asian Cup finals.

“Coach Troussier is very concerned when players are injured and cannot be used. He told me that he does not allow himself to abuse injured players like Que Ngoc Hai or Hoang Duc.

Mr. Troussier kept Hoang Duc until the last moment. But according to consultation with the medical team, this midfielder is not guaranteed to play in the first two matches. I appreciate the kindness in this coach, especially respect for the future and life of the player,” said Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi.

The head of the Vietnamese team at the Asian Cup added: “Mr. Troussier has been under great pressure with such a force of players. He said the players’ morale is getting better and better. When meeting Iraq – a very strong team, coach Troussier asked the team to focus on practicing in the middle. And indeed, Quang Hai’s goal took place exactly like in the 20 minutes of tactical practice the previous day. That is the mark of the coach.”

Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi said: “We are very sad that the team did not pass the group stage. But we also had positive features after the matches against Japan, Iraq or the second half of the match against Indonesia. What we were able to do was is a great lesson for the players. In the coming time, I hope Mr. Troussier will have support from the Referee Board. Because, Vietnamese players need to be equipped with how to behave, avoid take fouls”.
