(Video) Commercialization of next-generation batteries in 2025… What is the K-battery calculation?

On the 5th, Edaily TV’s Big Money Part 1 ‘News in Issue’ was broadcast.

[이데일리TV 이혜라 기자] SES (Solid Energy System), an American battery developer invested by Hyundai Motor and SK Group, introduced a next-generation battery to the market.

According to the industry on the 5th, SES opened ‘The 1st SES Battery World’ and unveiled the lithium metal battery ‘Apollo™’. A lithium metal battery is a battery that compensates for the shortcomings of the existing lithium-ion battery by applying a gel-type electrolyte. It is known that better performance can be realized when installed in an electric vehicle.

SES announced that lithium metal batteries will be commercialized in 2025. SES explained that Korean and Chinese battery makers are leading the global market, and that their supply chain and manufacturing business will focus on Korea and China.

Major domestic groups are also accelerating the development of next-generation batteries. The group plans to invest more than 30 billion won over 10 years in cooperation with Seoul National University to develop all-solid-state batteries. has invested 30 million dollars (about 35.3 billion won) in ‘Solid Power’ of the United States, a leading all-solid-state battery technology company. Interest in ‘LFP battery’, a type of lithium-ion battery that is advantageous in terms of securing price competitiveness, is also increasing.

On this day, Edaily TV Big Money Part 1 ‘News in Issues’ looked at the current status and growth potential of the battery industry.
