The General Authority of Meteorology announced that the weather condition will be unstable starting today, Wednesday, for a period of 3 days. The Meteorological Authority expects a state of instability in weather conditions starting today, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and tomorrow, Thursday, until Friday, February 16, 2024.
Temperatures drop throughout the Republic during this period, and cold weather prevails during the day and extremely cold at night, and frost forms on crops in the New Valley and central Sinai.
Meteorology attributed the unstable weather conditions to the concentration of a depression over the Mediterranean Sea, accompanied by a cold upper trough deep in the upper layers of the atmosphere. It expected rain of varying intensity, sometimes thundery, accompanied by hailstones in some areas.
Temperatures drop at night in the new cities of Greater Cairo, reaching a low of 8 degrees Celsius, and it is a great opportunity for snow to form on the St. Catherine Mountains, and the temperature drops to zero degrees Celsius there, and wind activity in general increases the feeling of cold weather.

Meteorology forecasts that cold weather will prevail today, Wednesday, in Greater Cairo, Alexandria Governorate, Lower Egypt, and the northern coasts, and tomorrow’s weather will be warm in North Upper Egypt, and warm in South Sinai and South Upper Egypt.
Extremely cold weather prevails at night and early in the morning in most parts of the Republic.
The winds are expected to be active in areas of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, Alexandria Governorate, the northern coasts, and South Sinai, and will cause sand and dust in exposed areas at intermittent intervals.
The condition of the Mediterranean Sea today is moderate, with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2 metres, and surface winds from southwesterly to northwesterly. As for the condition of the Red Sea, it is moderate to turbulent. Wave heights range from one and a half to two and a half metres, and the direction of surface winds is from the south. West to northwest.

Rainfall is considered one of the most important weather phenomena today, and moderate rain and occasional thunderstorms are expected to fall on areas of the northwestern coasts, northern Lower Egypt, and the Western Desert.
Rain extends at night to areas of the Gulf of Aqaba and South Sinai at intermittent intervals.
Light to moderate rain is expected to fall on areas of the eastern coast, extending light to areas of southern Lower Egypt, northern Upper Egypt, and the governorates of the Canal, Sinai, and Greater Cairo at intermittent intervals.
Expected temperatures in Egypt today, Wednesday
Temperatures today, Wednesday, will be lower in most parts than those prevailing yesterday, Tuesday.
The maximum temperature expected today in Cairo will drop by 3 degrees during the day, and the same applies in Alexandria, which will also drop by 3 degrees during the day compared to the weather yesterday.
The maximum daytime temperature in Damietta will fall by 4 degrees today, in Mansoura by 3 degrees, in Minya by 3 degrees, in Aswan by 4 degrees, in Arish by 5 degrees, and in Matrouh by 2 degrees.
The lowest temperatures at night are in St. Catherine and reach 4 degrees, while New Valley is 6 degrees, then Minya is 7 degrees.

Meteorology expects heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by hail (snow) during the weather condition tomorrow, Thursday, in areas of the governorates of: Alexandria – Matrouh – Beheira – Dakahlia – Port Said – Damietta – Kafr El-Sheikh.
The expected rain will be moderate and sometimes thundery during the weather tomorrow, Thursday, in areas of southern Lower Egypt and the Canal Governorates, reaching the extent of torrential rain in areas of Sinai and northern Red Sea Governorate.
The expected intensity of rain will be light to moderate in the governorates of: Cairo – Qalyubia – Giza – North Upper Egypt.

Light to moderate rain will fall during Friday’s weather on areas of southern Lower Egypt, the governorates of the Canal, the Gulf of Suez, and the governorates of Greater Cairo, Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
