What about Keezhatoor or Madaipara ?; Locals say Silverline will be torn down SilverLine Project | K Rail | Madayipara

Kannur: A complaint has been lodged that the Silver Line will tear down Madaipara in Kannur, a source of biodiversity. The Madaipara Conservation Committee does not believe the government’s claim that it will not harm the environment. Today, they are pointing to the old battlefield in Keezhatoor. The fields in Keezhatoor have been filled with soil, violating all promises for the six-lane road.

During the monsoon season, Madaipara is adorned with biological resources. Madaipara is home to birds that flock to the perennial water source and the Kakkapoo spring during the Onam season. Survey stones for the expressway have already been placed in the area. According to the Madaipara Conservation Committee, the government’s claim that development can be done without harming the environment is false.

The farmers have been protesting for three years against the decision to fill the field for the six-lane road. Political parties other than the CPM came to Keezhatoor with support. The strike turned violent. Authorities opposed the protest with all available police forces, special services and the army. ”

But no guarantee was kept. The fields of Keezhatoor were divided into two parts by soil. Many, including Suresh Keezhatoor, stayed away from the fields. Only a few like Janaki are left as losers in the struggle. If the future of Keezhatoor awaits Madaipara, we will lose that nature irretrievably.
