In the past few days, many videos and reports have been broadcast by Ukrainian and international media documenting the presence of Ukrainian special forces in Sudan, under the pretext that they are carrying out military missions there.

This issue raised many questions, and at the same time, it caused a lot of embarrassment to the Ukrainian leadership, which is in crisis in its war with Russia and the corruption issues it faces on the one hand, and to its Western supporters, led by the United States of America, on the other hand.

In this context, the Ukrainian newspaper “Kiev Post” published a new video clip showing Ukrainian forces in Sudan capturing, according to it, a number of soldiers who belong to the Russian “Wagner Group mercenaries” and are fighting against Sudanese army forces.

The video shows three captured soldiers, handcuffed and blindfolded, with a member of the Ukrainian forces present in Sudan asking them questions.

The same newspaper had also published earlier, video clips, citing sources from within the Ukrainian Special Forces, in which Ukrainian forces appear to be conducting special operations inside Sudan against what the newspaper called “mercenaries” and some local terrorist groups allied with Russia, as the newspaper reported, citing sources. State official said that Ukrainian forces have been active in Sudan for months.

This comes after the matter was exposed and the spread of many reports in the international media, most notably the American CNN network, which talked about Ukrainian intelligence retaining a large portion of the elite forces and mercenaries in Sudan, which are fighting alongside the Sudanese army against the Rapid Support Forces, and this was confirmed by During testimonies given by local residents about their vision of Ukrainian fighters.

The mission of Ukrainian forces in Sudan

After researching and investigating the background of the case, and according to media reports, Washington asked the Ukrainian leadership to send trained and professional forces to work in Khartoum and support Burhan’s forces, as one of the conditions for continued material and military support for Kiev in its war against Russia, and strong emphasis was placed on the necessity of keeping these agreements. Secret, so that sending the Ukrainians to Sudan appears as if it was a decision taken by the Ukrainian Intelligence Directorate without any external interference.

Accordingly, the Ukrainian media was directed to cover the presence of its forces in the region under the pretext of the presence of legitimate military targets and the fight against the Russian Wagner Group and others. Therefore, the Ukrainian media began publishing materials and reports showing attacks by Ukrainian forces on the Rapid Support Forces and claiming to have captured mercenaries from Wagner and others, exploiting the name of the Russian Wagner Group to justify the presence of Ukrainian forces in Sudan and to remove suspicions about the role of the United States of America in this matter.

According to some technical and psychological experts, it is likely that the latest video of the “captured mercenaries” was fabricated and an agreed-upon representation, as no wounds or signs appeared on the soldiers’ bodies or trousers indicating that they had fought a fierce battle, or at least had skirmishes with the Ukrainian forces. Especially the soldier who speaks Russian, and their way of answering the interrogator’s questions seemed to have been agreed upon in advance.

Which reinforces the validity of the theory of some analysts, that publishing these materials and using Wagner’s name is only for media consumption and to hide the real reason for the presence of Ukrainian forces in Sudan, in order to avoid embarrassing Washington and the Ukrainian leadership.
