Ex-EXO member Chris (Wu Yipan) / Life in a Chinese prison

A short video showing her life in a prison in China has become a hot topic while ex-EXO member Chinese-Canadian Chris (Chinese name Wu Yipan) is currently being detained in a detention center in Chaoyang District, China.

Chris, who was previously arrested by Chinese police on the 31st of last month on charges of raping a minor, is currently detained at the Chaoyang District Detention Center. The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, Chaoyang Branch, said, “Currently, Chris, a Canadian citizen, is being criminally detained for rape and investigating the case.”

The allegation of sexual assault on Chris came to light when Dumeiju, 18, who claimed to be Chris’ ex-girlfriend, revealed it. On the 18th, Doumeijoo reported to the online media that Chris had seduced many women through an interview or fan meeting for casting. He claimed that there were far more than eight victims, including himself, of which two were minors.

According to Dumeiju, Chris made minors drink alcohol and then had sex, and paid 500,000 yuan (about 88.13 million won) in return.

Chris, who completely denied the allegations, sued Dumeijou for blackmail, but was arrested after the public security announced that the two were having sex as a result of an interim investigation.

China’s state-run Global Times reported that Chris could be sentenced to between 10 years in prison and up to life in prison, and would be deported after serving a sentence.

“Chris is a Canadian citizen, but China can punish anyone who commits a crime in China,” said Wu Fatian, a Beijing-based lawyer, in an interview with the Global Times on the 1st. “He will be punished according to Chinese law.” said.

Meanwhile, Chris debuted as a member of SM Entertainment’s group EXO in 2012. In 2014, he filed a lawsuit against his agency to void his exclusive contract and left the team to work in Greater China.
