White Fence Announces New Album ‘Orange,’ First Release in Five Years
California musician Tim Presley is set to release a new album under the name White Fence, his first since 2019’s I Have To Feed Larry’s Hawk. The upcoming LP, titled Orange, is scheduled for release on via Drag City.
The album was produced by Ty Segall, a frequent collaborator of Presley’s, and recorded at Segall’s Harmonizer II studio. Segall also contributes drums to the majority of the tracks, with Dylan Hadley taking over on drums for a couple of songs. Alice Sandahl adds keyboards to the project.
Presley described the album’s themes in a press release, stating it explores “Love/loss, addiction/rehabilitation, and a good long look in the mirror (by way of a shop window reflection in San Francisco).” He added, “But also the absurdity of life….. I wanted to sing my little heart out. Sing life.”
The lead single, “Your Eyes,” has been released alongside the album announcement. It’s described as a “simple, direct, groovy rocker” that avoids some of the more experimental tendencies sometimes associated with White Fence.
Orange features the following tracklist:
- “That’s Where The Money Goes (Seen From The Celestial Realm)”
- “I Came Close, Orange For Luck”
- “Your Eyes”
- “Given Up My Heart”
- “Unread Books”
- “Evaporating Love”
- “Reflection In A Shop Window On Polk”
- “I Wanted a Rolex”
- “When Animals Come Back”
- “So Beautiful”
- “Blind Your Sun”
Presley’s musical journey includes previous involvement with bands such as The Fall, The Nerve Agents, and Darker My Love, before establishing himself as White Fence. The return of White Fence marks a significant moment for fans of his psychedelic guitar rock sound.
