New Delhi: Off-spinner R Ashwin points out to Indian wicketkeepers who are excelling behind the wicket against spin. Ashwin points to the difficulties faced by wicketkeepers against spin when playing in India.
Ashwin mentions the names of Dinesh Karthik, Wriddhiman Saha and MS Dhoni. Though Saha and Dinesh Karthik have amazing talents, Ashwin says that Dhoni seems to make things easier.
Dhoni seems to do it easily
I have played a lot of cricket with Dinesh Karthik in Tamil Nadu. But when it comes to picking someone, I can say that Dhoni’s name is behind the wicket as he has made many difficult dismissals with ease.
On the first day of the Test in Chennai, Dhoni was stumped when Ed Cowan tried to play outside the crease. The ball did not turn there. But bounced. For Dhoni to collect the ball there. I have rarely seen Dhoni miss the ball, whether in stumping or run-out situations. Dhoni is the best wicket-keeper against spin. Saha is not far behind either, Ashwin said.
