Microsoft Launches Limited-Edition Windows XP Crocs via Sweepstakes
Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a nostalgic throwback: limited-edition Crocs shoes designed to resemble the iconic Windows XP operating system. The shoes feature the familiar blue sky and cloud wallpaper, and come with themed Jibbitz charms.
How to Get a Pair
Unlike typical product releases, Microsoft will not be selling the Windows XP Crocs directly to the public. Instead, they are being distributed through a sweepstakes hosted on Microsoft’s Instagram account. To enter, users must like the promotional post and comment with the hashtag ”#MicrosoftCrocSweepstakes” by Tuesday, October 7th at 11:59 PM PT.
The Verge contacted Microsoft to inquire about potential wider availability, but a spokesperson did not promptly respond to their request.
Nostalgia in Shoe Form
The Windows XP Crocs were initially spotted in August 2024 when Microsoft began offering them to its employees as a unique perk. As reported by The Verge, the shoes are more than just a color scheme; they include Jibbitz charms representing classic Windows XP icons, including the pixelated mouse pointer, the Recycle Bin, the My Documents folder, and the beloved MSN butterfly logo.
Microsoft’s 50th Anniversary
This limited-edition Crocs release is part of Microsoft’s broader festivity of its 50th anniversary. Founded on April 4, 1975, by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, Microsoft has become a global technology leader. The company’s anniversary celebrations are likely to include further nostalgic nods to its history alongside forward-looking announcements about its future.
