With Corona Stopped… 3901 new confirmed cases, the third total in history

With the implementation of ‘With Corona’ (step-by-step daily recovery) in November, the number of new coronavirus infections (COVID-19) has steadily increased, recording the third largest number ever since the first case in Korea on the 26th.

According to the Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 00:00 on the same day, the number of new confirmed cases increased by 3,901, bringing the total to 432,901. The number of severe cases of serious illness was 617, breaking the record for the most every day. For the second day in a row, 39 people died.

This increase appears to be due to the easing of quarantine rules due to the implementation of a phased daily recovery this month.

The number of confirmed cases in Korea today was 3,882, and 19 were imported. By region, 1739 people in Seoul, 1115 in Gyeonggi, and 245 in Incheon, 79.8% (3099 people) in the metropolitan area.

The death toll from COVID-19 increased by 39, bringing the total to 3,440 (fatal rate of 0.79%). The number of seriously ill patients hospitalized was 617, an increase of 5 from the previous day. This is the highest number since the statistics were compiled.

As of 5 p.m. the previous day, the utilization rate of intensive care beds for COVID-19 was 72.8%. Of the 1,135 beds it has, 309 can be admitted. In the metropolitan area alone, 84.5% of critically ill beds are in operation. The general beds that treat moderately ill patients are 68.8% full, with 3276 out of 10,502 empty.

By 00:00 that day, 42,419,011 people had completed their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 47,564 people were vaccinated the day before. The primary vaccination rate relative to the population is 82.6%.

The number of vaccinated people who completed the basic vaccination increased by 66,613 to a total of 40,764,548 (79.4% of the population). A cumulative total of 2,64,798 people were vaccinated, and 193,366 people participated in the previous day.

Meanwhile, the government plans to announce measures to strengthen quarantine measures to respond to the risk of COVID-19 on the 29th. The quarantine authorities were originally scheduled to announce the countermeasures on the same day, but postponed the announcement when the industry and related ministries did not agree on the level of quarantine, such as the expansion of the ‘Quarantine Pass’ (Vaccination Completion, Voice Confirmation).
