New Delhi: Navjot Singh Sidhu has announced his support for Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi following the resignation of the Punjab PCC president. Sidhu said he would stand by them whether they have the status or not. Sidhu’s resignation in the next Punjab Assembly elections has put the party in crisis.
‘Let all the evil forces try to defeat me, but the positive forces will defeat Punjab. Punjabi (fraternity) will win. I hold fast to the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, ”Sidhu tweeted. On Thursday, it was reported that Sidhu himself would lead the Congress in Punjab.
Sidhu was reportedly stepping down as he could not accept some of the appointments of incumbent Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to replace Amarinder Singh.
