World Malayalee Council kicks off global conference

London: Easter and Vishu celebrations organized by the World Malayalee Council Europe Region and the kickoff of the Global Conference to be held in Bahrain on June 23, 24 and 25 this year. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan and Irrigation Minister Roshi Augustine officiated on April 23 at 4.30 pm. The event featured a variety of artistic and cultural events in the presence of prominent expatriate businessmen from around the world, including Roji M. John MLA, Tom Aditya, Stock Mayor of Brattol, Bristol, UK.

The meeting started with a prayer song by Sreeja Shieldcomb and was welcomed by World Malayalee Council Europe Regional President Jolly M Padayattil. Europe Regional Chairman Jolly Thadathil, who presided over the meeting, briefed the gathering on the activities of the World Malayalee Council and drew the attention of the Minister and the Leader of the Opposition to the difficulties faced by the expatriates in their homeland.

Minister Roshi Augustine especially highlighted the World Malayalee Council’s helping hand during natural calamities in Kerala and appreciated the services rendered by the World Malayalee Council. Roshi Augustine also said that efforts can be made to address the problems faced by expatriates.

World Malayalee Council Acting Chairperson Dr. Vijayalakshmi, Global President Gopalan Pillai, Global Vice President John Mathai, PC Mathew, General Secretary Gregory Medayil, Associate Secretary Rona Thomas, Global Treasurer Thomas Arabankudi, Global Women’s Forum President Mercy Thadathil ( Global Conference General Convener), Sudhir Nambiar (American Region), Sam David Mathew (President Oman Province), Jose Kubuluwelil (President German Province), Dr. Binesh Joseph (President Frankfurt Province), Biju Sebastian (President of Ireland Province), (Chief Election Commissioner) also addressed the gathering.

Blessed European singers Cyriac Cherukad, Sobichan Chennangara, Shaibu Joseph Kattikattu, Sreeja and others performed at the Cochin Golden Hits Group. World Malayalee Council Europe Regional General Secretary Babu Thottappilly thanked the audience and put an end to the three hour long celebrations. Gregory Meda, Global General Secretary, World Malayalee Council, moderated this art and cultural evening.
