LUGO, Spain (AP) — Teh city of Lugo is rolling out three new initiatives aimed at providing alternative and healthy leisure activities for young people, and in some cases, families. The programs fall under the +XTI 2025 umbrella.
Bakery and Pastry Course: Training for the Future
A basic bakery and pastry course is one of the key offerings. The course, limited to 12 participants between the ages of 18 and 35, will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April to June. Practical classes will take place at CEAO bakery.
According to Mayor Jorge bustos, the initiative addresses a demand in the labor market and aims to improve youth employment prospects through specialized training.
“We want to give tools for our youth to find real access roads to employment,” Bustos said. “Bakery and pastry represent a niche with many possibilities, and from the City Council, we want to be part of that solution.”
A presentation about the training is scheduled for April 29 at the Uxío Novoneyra coexistence center. The 60-hour course registration opened April 16 and continues until 7 p.m. on April 25, through the website www.lugomasxti.org. Participants will be selected based on the order in which applications are received.
Alternative Leisure Program: Games and Activities in the Neighborhoods
The +XTI program also includes an alternative leisure program, bringing games, sports, and other activities to various neighborhoods. This program is geared toward children ages 10 and older and dose not require prior registration, nor does it have a limit on the number of participants.
Activities will be held on Fridays from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., from April to June, at three locations:
- Parque Da Orquídea (next to the CEIP Casás): april 25, May 16, June 6
- Rúa Galego Tato (next to the IES Luis Pimentel): May 2, May 23, June 20
- Rosalía de Castro Park (Mirador Zone): May 9, May 30, June 27
