Yang Moon-seok, “Lots of reflection and apology” for past posts about ‘Roh Moo-hyun’s defective products’

Yang Moon-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Ansan Gap, Gyeonggi Province, for the April 10 general election apologized for his past column in which he called former President Roh Moo-hyun a “defective product.”

In 2008, when he was Secretary General of the Press Alliance, Candidate Yang wrote a column titled ‘Lee Myung-bak and Roh Moo-hyun are similar defective products’ in the Internet news outlet ‘Medias’, saying, “Former President Roh Moo-hyun, who pushed for the Korea-U.S. FTA, which was opposed by 60-70% of the public, It was written, “It is a defective product.”

When this fact became known the previous day (the 15th), Kim Boo-gyeom, chairman of the Democratic Party’s standing joint election committee, said, “We must make nominations that meet the public’s expectations,” and former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, and former National Assembly Secretary-General Lee Kwang-jae also urged the party to make a decision.

Candidate Yang said, “(At the time) as a civil society group activist and columnist, I exposed (criticism) without filtering in emotional expressions without deep consideration,” and added, “(After starting politics) I have learned numerous factors to consider in political judgment. “I began to understand former President Madano’s agony,” he wrote.

He continued, “In every moment of frustration I experienced in the political field, I was comforted by former President Roh’s political journey,” and added, “It brought about countless moments of reflection and apology.”
