On the 2nd, Yang So-young, chair of the Democratic Party of Korea’s student committee, left the party and joined the Reform Future Party, saying, “Differences were ignored and suppressed within the party.”

Yang So-young, chair of the university student committee, held a press conference at the National Assembly this morning and said, “Inside the party, the people who were with me were excluded and I became an object of avoidance.”

Chairman Yang was initially classified as a pro-Lee Jae-myung (pro-Myung) figure, but he has been at odds with the party leadership since he criticized the coin speculation controversy of Rep. Kim Nam-guk, then a member of the Democratic Party, in May of last year.

He said at a press conference on this day, “Differences in thinking were called internal firing and became the target of punishment,” and “From the moment I pointed out Rep. “I couldn’t do it,” he said.

In particular, Chairman Yang said, “I was pressured by key officials in the party representative’s office that I might no longer be able to perform my duties,” and “I felt unfair when I was misunderstood and yelled at for reporting this to a reporter, but I gave a sufficient explanation and stayed silent for the sake of the Democratic Party.” “Afterwards, situations that were thought to improve over time have worsened,” he said.

Regarding the reason for joining the Reform Future Party, Chairman Yang said, “I want to break down the giant two-party system and start a new path to create a politics that competes over the lives of the people. They told me they would do their best to help and pursue politics for future generations.” “I asked him to do it,” he said.

As Chairman Yang’s withdrawal from the party and joining the Reform Future Party became known, opposition from members of the Democratic Party continued.

Deputy Chief of Political Affairs Kim Ji-ho, the party representative who was identified as the party who attempted to put pressure on Chairman Yang, said in a statement on the day, “We did not spare any support to ensure the activities of the university student committee chairperson despite various protests and complaints.” He refuted this by saying, “We intervened through on-duty leave, proposed the provision of a full-time office for the University Student Committee to the Secretary General’s Office, and held a meeting with the representative last month.”

He said, “I express regret for former Chairman Yang, who interpreted efforts to communicate with young politicians as pressure.”

The Democratic Party Youth Committee also released a statement on the same day, saying, “We sincerely sympathized and comforted each time people told us that they were having mental difficulties due to large or small disturbances within the party,” and added, “We have been thinking together for a long time about the direction the youth within the party should take.” He pointed out, “Former Chairman Yang’s decision is even more disastrous.”

He continued, “While working as the president of the college student council, other than meeting high-ranking people, attending events with many people, and going up to the podium to make your name known, what activities have you done and what voice have you conveyed to the party? Please support the entire Democratic Youth Party in this general election.” “I sincerely hope that you will not use it as prey and an opportunity to enrich yourself,” he urged.
