On April 10, 2022, Yoji Mizuguchi (79 years old), the first director of the Matsushita Electric Industrial Soccer Club, the predecessor of Gamba Osaka, passed away.

In 1980, Mr. Mizuguchi became the first director of the Matsushita Electric Industrial Soccer Club, the predecessor of Gamba Osaka.
He has been in command for 11 years, leading the club to promotion from the 2nd division of the Nara Prefecture Adult League to the 1st division of the JSL league, and in 1990, won the club’s first Emperor’s Cup championship.
In addition, after retiring as a coach, he was involved in launching a team for the establishment of the J League at the Matsushita Electric Industrial Soccer Club Professionalization Preparation Office, and after becoming a professional, he has been involved in the development of the club for a long time as Gamba Osaka Director Strengthening Department Manager and Promotion Department Manager.
