Putin is visiting Crimea by car to commemorate 9 years since the annexation of Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin made an unannounced visit to Crimea on the 18th local time to mark 9 years since Russia annexed Crimea.

The Associated Press, AFP, and Reuters simultaneously reported that President Putin had arrived in Crimea based on television footage released by a Russian broadcaster.

President Putin arrived by car in Sevastopol, a port city in the southwestern part of the Crimean Peninsula, and toured the children’s center and the art school that opened that day.

Earlier, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for President Putin, accusing him of war crimes in the illegal removal of children from occupied Ukraine.
