President Yun Seok-yeol had a meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, at the United Nations Secretariat today between 3:45pm and 25 minutes.

Today is the third time the two have met in two months. An interview in Seoul in August, an unexpected meeting this morning, and an interview in the afternoon.

Secretary-General Guterres began the interview by saying thank you for hearing President Yun Seok-yeol’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

President Yun Seok-yeol told Secretary-General Guterres that if North Korea chooses a better path to opening up, the South Korean government, as well as international financial institutions, and Northeast Asia will not spare large-scale investment in North Korea and financial aid to build the infrastructure of North Korea. He said that he would do his best so that the Korean Peninsula can do that so that he can make every effort to open the closed door so that he can contribute to peace in Northeast Asia and the world

President Yoon continued, “However, when North Korea resumes its nuclear test or conducts additional nuclear provocations, I ask for your continued interest and support so that the international community can respond with one voice and decisively.

In response, Secretary-General Guterres made it clear that President Yoon Seok-yeol and the Republic of Korea can trust the United Nations, and that the Security Council will take a clear response to any provocation that threatens freedom and peace.
