Yuki Tsunoda “Thanks to the people at the factory for running” / Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 Emilia Romagna GP[F1-Gate .com]

Yuki Tsunoda of Scuderia AlphaTauri admits that he did not expect the Alpha Tauri AT03 to be that competitive at the F1 Emilia Romagna GP.

Yuki Tsunoda overtakes several cars in the latter half of the race and finishes in 7th place, which is the best result of the season. He won his second prize in four races.

However, he admits he was losing Q1 in Friday’s qualifying and didn’t expect a strong pace this weekend.

“The car was really good. I didn’t expect it to be that much better, especially compared to Australia,” said Yuki Tsunoda.

“We have made really good progress throughout the weekend and are happy with what we have done today.”

“My main goal was to get points in front of people from the factory, so some people are watching at the factory. They’ve been doing a lot of work since the beginning of the season.”

“I’m glad to be thankful for driving. I hope I can continue to do this.”

Teammate Pierre Guthrie was stuck behind Alexander Albon (Williams) for most of the race and was unable to score points.

Pierre Guthrie also held Lewis Hamilton down, but neither of them was able to move up the ranks using DRS.

“Almost the entire race had a pretty big Mercedes in the mirror,” said Pierre Guthrie.

“I tried a lot to overtake Albon, but I couldn’t catch Williams with DRS. It was pretty frustrating, but I knew it would be difficult to start from behind.”
