Yuvraj Singh May Contest as BJP Candidate in Lok Sabha Elections

Chandigarh: Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh may contest as a BJP candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to reports. The Times of India reported that Yuvraj would contest the Lok Sabha constituency from Gurdaspur on a BJP ticket. It is suggested that Yuvraj Singh’s recent meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is a precursor to this.

Actor Sunny Deol is currently the BJP MP from Gurdaspur. But public sentiment is strong against Sunny Deol who did not make it to the constituency. That is why the BJP is said to be getting ready to try a new face. Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna has also represented Gurujaspur in Parliament before.

One of the best that India has ever seen, Yuvraj Singh played a vital role in India’s maiden victory in the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the 2011 ODI World Cup. Yuvraj, scored 362 runs and took 15 wickets in the World ODI 2011, was the star of the tournament. After the World Cup, Yuvraj, who was suffering from cancer, recovered from the disease and played in the Indian jersey again. After retirement, Yuvi also shined as a cricket commentator.

Sidhu returns

Meanwhile, Times of India reports that former Indian cricketer Navjot Sidhu may also return to the BJP after leaving the BJP for the Congress. It is suggested that Sidhu will contest from Amritsar. The Election Commission is expected to announce the declaration of Lok Sabha elections in the coming days.
