Candidate Chang-yong Lee for the governor of the Bank of Korea said, “It is not different from what I think” in relation to the Monetary Policy Committee’s decision to raise the base rate.
Candidate Lee said in a written response submitted to Rep. Yang Kyung-sook of the Democratic Party of Korea in the National Assembly Planning and Finance Committee today (17th), “I believe that the Monetary Policy Committee members made an appropriate decision considering the financial and economic situation comprehensively.”
To the point that the new government’s policies, such as deregulation of loans, and monetary policy are at odds, he replied, “I don’t think it is a situation to be concerned about at this point with the monetary policy.”
