[경제]Small business hit hard by Corona 19… 870,000 employees↓, operating profit 43%↓

In particular, the ‘big three’ businesses, such as wholesale and retail, lodging, restaurants, and manufacturing, suffered heavy losses.

Yes, the National Statistical Office and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced the results of last year’s small business survey.

As expected, the small business industry has been hit hard by COVID-19.

First, 870,000 workers lost their jobs.

313,000 people in the wholesale and retail industry, 252,000 people in the lodging and restaurant business, and 59,000 in the manufacturing sector, respectively.

In addition, 39,000 people in the arts, sports and leisure industries and 27,000 people in the education service sector decreased.

Sales and operating profit also faltered.

Sales per small business entity decreased by 11 million won from a year ago.

Including the manufacturing sector, which gave 12.2%, the wholesale/retail, lodging/restaurant industry decreased by 3.4%, and the education service industry decreased by 7.7%.

In particular, operating profit per business fell by 14 million won, down 43% from a year ago.

The operating profit of the arts, sports and leisure industries decreased by 85.2%, the education service industry decreased by 66.4%, and the accommodation, restaurant and wholesale/retail industries decreased by 56.8% and 48.7%.

In addition, the total debt borrowed by small businesses from financial institutions last year increased by nearly 48 trillion won from a year ago.

The debt holding ratio has increased in all industries, including manufacturing and wholesale and retail.

On the other hand, the total number of small businesses last year increased by 4.7% compared to a year ago.

While the number of businesses in their 50s and 60s decreased, those in their 20s and under and 30s increased.

In particular, the number of small business enterprises under the age of 20 increased by 113,000, and it is interpreted that the enthusiasm of young people to start a business is continuing despite Corona 19.

In the midst of this, it was found that the government paid 43 trillion won to small businesses last year to overcome the corona crisis.

So far, the Ministry of Economy has delivered it.
