[경제]The government presents the second opinion of the IRA to the United States … “Expansion of commercial electric vehicles”

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that they have submitted a second opinion regarding the US Inflation Reduction Act and the IRA.

In her opinion, the government asked for a broad interpretation of the scope of ‘commercial eco-friendly vehicles’, which are not subject to complex requirements, and to provide intensive tax credits.

This is because the requirements for final assembly and battery parts and minerals in North America that apply to general eco-friendly vehicles are not applied to the commercial eco-friendly vehicle tax credit.

The government also asked for clear tax deduction standards to reduce investment uncertainty in clean hydrogen and clean fuel production, carbon capture, and electric charging stations.

In this regard, a delegation from the Korean government and the National Assembly, including Trade Minister Ahn Deok-geun, will visit the United States on the 4th to discuss the issue of subsidies for Korean electric vehicles.

The IRA, which went into effect last August, allows tax deductions of up to $7,500 and about 10 million earned in our money alone to buyers of electric vehicles that have finally been assembled in North America.
