[국제]Cuban woman reveals she was raped by Maradona 20 years ago

Reuters reported that a woman who had been in a relationship with the late Argentine football hero Diego Maradona 20 years ago claimed that Maradona had sexually assaulted her before officially dating, Reuters and others reported.

According to reports, Cuban Mavis Alvarez told a press conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that Maradona, then 40, sexually assaulted her 16-year-old at a hospital in the Cuban capital of Havana in 2001.

At the time, Maradona revealed that she got to know Alvarez while staying in Cuba for drug addiction treatment.

Alvarez had previously claimed in an interview with Spanish-language media in the United States that he had suffered multiple losses from Maradona.

She claims she was forced to stay in a hotel room for three months on a trip to Maradona and Buenos Aires, Argentina after the sexual assault in question, during which time she was forced to undergo breast augmentation.

He added that Maradona encouraged her to use cocaine, saying she would make her dependent, and that she even physically abused her.

However, Alvarez said he and Maradona had a consensual relationship for several years after that.

In this regard, the Argentine civic group ‘Peace Foundation’ has filed a complaint about Alvarez’s detention, assault, and beating, and the authorities are investigating.

Maradona, the party involved, died of a heart attack in November of last year, and Maradona’s attendants at the time were accused of being sued, but the attendants completely deny the allegations.

Alvarez said the reason for raising these allegations was “to help all women, all women victims of crime.”
