[국제]Ukraine, there is no ‘Christmas truce’… Russia gives up Kherson indiscriminately

[앵커]

Not even a moment of peace was allowed on Christmas even for Ukraine, which has been over 300 days since the start of the war.

While some Ukrainian soldiers modestly celebrated the birth of Jesus, Kherson was bombarded with indiscriminate Russian bombing.

A Christmas delegation visited the front lines of Kharkiv, Ukraine on Christmas Eve.

The chaplain and actors of the Kharkiv Theater.

The chaplain who blessed the birth of baby Jesus prayed for a peaceful Christmas next year.

[올렉산드르 / 군정목사 : 여러분에게 크리스마스의 축복을 전합니다. 그리고 다음 크리스마스는 평화로운 나라에서 가족들과 함께 보내기를 기도합니다.]

On the front line, in the Bakhmut camp in eastern Ukraine, a simple crema tree was built.

Although the gunfire continues, they decorate the tree in their own way and think of their family for a moment.

[로만 카피누스 / 우크라이나 군인 : 포탄이 날아오고 아군이 반격하는 소리가 들리겠지만, 성탄절은 성탄절입니다. 그래야만 합니다.]

However, on the same day, Russian troops fired indiscriminately at Kherson in southern Ukraine.

Pedestrians and vehicles running on the road were the targets.

Dozens of people were killed or injured in this way.

Kherson was fired upon 74 times the previous day, killing five and wounding 17 others.

Ukrainian President Zelensky posted photos of burning vehicles, dead bodies on the streets and destroyed buildings on his social media accounts, which he said were real life in Kherson.

During the First World War, a fairy tale like ‘The Christmas Tree’ did not happen, where the front line troops of Britain, France and Germany stopped the war for a while implicitly in Ukraine.
