Gas stations on the front line were also in crisis due to the collective refusal of the cargo union to ship for the week. It’s still the story of some gas stations, but damage continues, like running out of stocked gasoline.

Oh Chang-won, the owner of a gas station in Sangdo-dong, Seoul, has been implicated. Is the boss with me?

[오창원]

Hello.

[앵커]

I will ask immediately. I heard that there are gas stations that have already run out of gas and have closed. What about the gas station there?

[오창원]

We currently have around 35% left in stock. Gasoline 25%, diesel 35%.

[앵커]

Roughly how many days is 35%?

[오창원]

We can last a day or so.

[앵커]

At the moment, according to a government announcement, there are 23 gas stations that have run out of petrol or diesel. Looking at it across the country, the figure is still insignificant, but what about the situation in other refineries in the vicinity?

[오창원]

Gas stations in the metropolitan area, such as Seoul, are experiencing delays in shipping petroleum products due to strikes by cargo unions, and I believe that gas stations around Dongjak-gu will also face many difficulties.

[앵커]

Is there a point where information is shared between gas stations in the same area or as a countermeasure?

[오창원]

Sharing is shared with nearby gas stations and nearby gas station owners, but it’s frustrating because there’s no point in sharing it.

[앵커]

Has this ever happened to you in the past?

[오창원]

In the past, there was a traffic wave on the S-Oil side, so it happened for a while, but it ended quickly and luckily it went well.

[앵커]

Do you remember how many days it was?

[오창원]

I don’t know, but I remember it was about 2 weeks.

[앵커]

It is said that the situation is different for each gas station and each region Is there a reason why there is a difference in the inventory in each region?

[오창원]

There may be a difference in sales. And the metropolitan area has a lot of storage compared to sales volume. So it’s a situation where you can’t secure a lot of stock and go.

[앵커]

Demand for oil is low, but there are many direct gas stations in the metropolitan area, so these parts can be a problem as well.

[오창원]

At the end of the month, you can fill it according to fluctuations in international oil prices or take less inventory. In this case, we have to empty our inventory a little in a situation where international oil prices have fallen, but because of the cargo union strike, it is difficult to predict when oil will come in, so we continue to be received as soon as possible. it has been secured.

[앵커]

As soon as it is secured, I think it will be a question about that part, but the government said it would minimize damage by first delivering tank trucks to gas stations that are out of stock.

At first, the boss said there was about a day’s supply, but how do you see it? For example, I’m going to ask you a question, including whether you anticipate the worst, and that you’re going to close your doors completely.

[오창원]

There is only about a day left in stock now, and at this time, the government or related companies are doing their best to ship it to our self-employed gas station first. However, if we run out of stock due to a lack of delivery vehicles, we will have no choice but to sell out of stock.

[앵커]

I hope that the conversation between the government and the cargo union will go well and that there will be no inconvenience for many people.

Until now, I was the owner of Oh Chang-won, who ran a gas station in Sangdo-dong, Seoul. Boss, thanks for talking today.

[오창원]

Thank you
