On New Year’s Eve, people are coming to visit their parents and family in nursing homes.

However, even during this year’s holidays, only non-face-to-face visits are possible through the glass wall, so the family’s pity is growing.

Yes, it is listed at a nursing hospital in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do.

Yes, is it possible to only meet face-to-face during the Lunar New Year this year?

[기자]

Yes, what you see behind me is a non-face-to-face visit facility provided by this nursing home.

With a glass wall in between, there are seats for inpatients to sit inside and for families to sit outside.

To avoid any possible infection, conversations can only be done through the receivers on either side.

The visit started at 9:30 am, and two or three families have already returned from the visit.

I met my parents I wanted to see and told them to be healthy in the new year, but I had no choice but to say it through the glass wall.

The interview time was as short as 20 minutes.

I would like to hear the feelings of the families who have finished the visit.

As the spread of COVID-19, such as mutations in Omicron, has intensified, face-to-face visits have been banned again for this year’s Lunar New Year.

This is in accordance with the ‘Special quarantine measures for the Lunar New Year holiday’ announced by the government this holiday.

For two weeks from the 24th of last month to the 6th, contact visits are prohibited in nursing homes, and only non-face-to-face visits can be made.

Reservations must be made at each nursing facility in advance, however, in urgent situations such as nearing the end of life, contact visits are permitted with permission from the institution operator.

After a brief face-to-face visits were allowed on Chuseok last year, nursing hospitals and facilities were completely banned again due to stricter social distancing.

Face-to-face visits are prohibited for the second year following the Lunar New Year last year.

In addition, additional measures for quarantine management of nursing homes and hospitals have been introduced.

Workers must undergo a preemptive examination regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, and those who are not vaccinated are not allowed to engage in work such as nursing care and contact with inpatients.

Although there are not many restrictions like this, many people visit nursing facilities to meet their loved ones on New Year’s Day.

It is said that the nursing hospital that I am in also visits about 20 times a day during this holiday period.

It is said that all reservations are full until 4 pm today, New Year’s Day.

It’s a good New Year’s Day to meet the family you miss, but it’s also a holiday with great sadness for those who have a hard time holding hands through the glass wall.
