[사회]’With Corona’ enforcement 3 weeks after confirming… Red light ahead of school

[앵커]

Yesterday, three weeks after the implementation of the ‘step-by-step recovery of daily life’, confirmed cases of Corona 19 continued all over the country.

While the youth vaccination rate is still low, all schools are starting today, raising concerns about the spread of infection.

Despite the ‘holiday effect’, which reduces the number of tests, the spread did not stop.

As of 9 pm yesterday evening, there were 2,468 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 601 more than at the same time a week ago.

By region, 1,075 in Seoul, 790 in Gyeonggi, and 161 in Incheon, 80% of which was concentrated in the metropolitan area.

In addition, there were sporadic infections across the country, including 59 in Gyeongnam, 58 in Gwangju, and 54 in Gangwon.

The completion rate of vaccination as a percentage of the population is close to 80%, exceeding the target of collective immunity, but it is insufficient to catch the spread of the virus after the phased recovery of daily life.

Six months after completing the vaccination, the antibody levels decrease and additional vaccinations are required. So far, only 1.8 million people have received the booster shot.

The problem is that the vaccination rate for adolescents under the age of 17 is particularly low at 13.4%.

There is a high risk of spreading to a group infection, with an average of more than 330 students confirmed every day ahead of elementary, middle and high school attendance.

In the case of overcrowded and overcrowded schools in the metropolitan area, staggered school attendance or distance classes are sometimes conducted simultaneously, but 97% of all schools are expected to resume full school attendance.

At the same time, the authorities plan to encourage teenage students to participate in vaccination, and at the same time establish a ‘School Life Prevention Guidance and Inspection Team’ to strengthen patrols around PC rooms and karaoke rooms outside the school gate.
