One of the popular sashimi is salmon.

Most of the raw salmon is imported from Norway, and the frozen salmon is imported entirely from South America such as Chile.

Korea has also succeeded in growing salmon by hatching its own salmon.

We look forward to seeing salmon from the East Coast soon.

All tanks are full of young fish.

‘Atlantic salmon’ is one of the most common types of salmon.

A fertilized egg brought in last October successfully hatched and was raised safely.

After hatching, 9 out of 10 will grow without death.

After a year of breeding in fresh water at 13 degrees Celsius, it has grown to around 20 cm.

All the salmon raised in this way will soon be transferred to the Goseong Offshore Research Center in Gangwon-do.

They go through the process of becoming an adult in sea water, not fresh water.

Salmon raised in fresh water is black, not the silvery white we know.

It changes color naturally as it goes out to sea.

This process is called spotting.

Gangwon-do has also secured several related patents for salmon farming.

However, the Atlantic salmon is still an untested creature of ‘environmental concern’ in our seas, so it cannot be released and reared in the sea.

Instead, Gangwon-do aims to establish a cluster of salmon and then farm large-scale Atlantic salmon on land.

If hatchery chips are provided to inland fishermen who rear trout and perch, the fishermen will pick them up and supply them to private companies.

The east coast of Gangwon was a barren land for marine culture for a long time due to the low water temperature.

Whether it can step forward as the only salmon farming center in Asia remains to be seen.
