The government has announced that it will switch to the Omicron response stage if the average daily number of new infections exceeds 7,000.

First of all, the Omicron response stage will be applied preemptively from next Wednesday in four regions, including Gwangju and Jeonnam, and Pyeongtaek and Anseong in Gyeonggi-do, where Omicron is dominant.

High-risk groups, such as the elderly over 60 years old, can undergo PCR testing at existing screening clinics, but PCR testing is only possible if they are positive after testing with a self-test kit at screening clinics or at a respiratory clinic designated by the government. do.

Accordingly, a negative confirmation through self-test kit or rapid antigen test is also recognized as a quarantine pass, but the validity period is reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours.

From today, the age of medication will increase from the current age of 65 or older to over 60, and the scope of supply will also be gradually expanded to nursing hospitals, nursing facilities, and infectious disease hospitals.

Immigration control is also strengthened to prevent overseas inflow of Omicron.

The submission of the PCR negative confirmation letter in advance is strengthened from 72 hours before departure to 48 hours before departure, and after entering the country, you must undergo two additional rapid antigen tests in addition to the existing PCR test.

At the same time, the validity period of the quarantine exemption will be shortened from 1 month to 14 days.
