VenezuelaS Cabello Reports 23 Additional Releases, Denies political Prisoner Claims
Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced Wednesday the release of 23 additional individuals, bringing the total number of releases authorized by the government to 808. Cabello concurrently dismissed campaigns alleging the existence of “political prisoners” in Venezuela, asserting those promoting the claims are celebrating the perceived imprisonment of President Nicolás Maduro in the United States.
Cabello specifically called for the liberation of Nicolás Maduro, according to reports. He did not provide further details regarding the criteria for the releases or the identities of those freed.
This announcement follows ongoing international scrutiny regarding human rights and political detentions in Venezuela. the Venezuelan government has consistently maintained that individuals detained are not political prisoners, but rather are facing charges related to criminal activity.
