A 22-story building under construction collapsed in Nigeria. “Up to 100 missing”

In Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, a 22-story building under construction collapsed yesterday local time, leaving about 100 people missing, including field workers.

Local police said at least three people were killed in the accident and dozens were trapped in rubble.

Witnesses said there were about 100 people present at the crash site at the time of the collapse.

Rescue authorities are using excavators to search for the missing person in the pile of buildings.

So far, one body has been recovered and three survivors have been taken to the hospital.

The Ikoi area, where the accident occurred, is a wealthy residential area leading from the port city of Lagos to the prosperous district.

In Nigeria, building collapses occur frequently due to lax regulations and the use of non-standard materials.
