Zelensky visits the restored Kherson…

The Ukraine recaptured Kherson shortly after Russian forces withdrew on the 11th.

It has been eight months since the region was taken away by Russia in March, immediately after the start of the war.

Russia incorporated Kherson Oblast into Russian Federation territory at the end of September, along with other occupied territories such as Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia, but withdrew from the capital within two months.

In a speech to the nation immediately after the restoration of Kherson, President Zelensky congratulated, “Today is a historic day.”

In mid-September, he visited Ijium, which was reclaimed during the Northeast Harki space recovery operation, and encouraged the troops and said, “We will only advance until victory.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he “would not comment” on APF’s request for comment on Zelensky’s visit to Kherson, but insisted that “the region is part of the Russian Federation”.
