Upon his arrival in the United States, Abdoul Moumouni Belem, a young Burkinabè, offered his services in garages in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Baltimore. His various visits to these garages allowed him to become accustomed to the mechanical technology of cars and to meet the man who is today his partner, a Guinean.

“When I arrived in the United States here, I went to garages in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore. Through that I learned a bit of technology. I arrived in Houston in 2017 where I met my Guinean partner. Together, we decided to create a corner, but it wasn’t easy with the funds”testifies Abdoul Moumouni Belem.

But in February 2023, as he points out, we got this corner. “We have 5 employees in the garage here. 1 on the mechanical side, 3 on the sheet metal side and 1 only for painting. Per week, we have 6 to 7 vehicles”he said.

Not every beginning is easy. Abdoul Moumouni Belem & Co, aware of such a reality, thanks the Almighty for what they manage to cope with certain charges, and even to be able to put money in their pocket. “At the very beginning of a business, it’s not easy. But thank God we manage to pay the employees, the rental and have something in our pocket”he expressed his gratitude to his creator.

Ouch, you garage

Thanks to the technology on site in Houston, he says he is able to develop other businesses in Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso. In 5 years, or even 10 years, the ambition of the two Africans is to go from tenant to owner of a garage.

“In 5 years, or even 10 years, it’s about having our own place in the United States so that we no longer have to rent and have a large garage. It’s the same in Burkina Faso to make a garage with a lot of technology and then equipment”confides the young entrepreneur.
