In an effort to address the heavy traffic congestion caused by public buses and construction works in the Suksawat Rd. area, Mr. Suraphong Piyachote, the Deputy Minister of Transport, appointed Mr. Sorapong Paitoonphong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, to assess the situation. To mitigate these problems, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport held discussions with MPs from the Kao Klai Party. They agreed to seek assistance from Big C Department Store, utilizing the space in front of the store as a designated pickup and drop-off point for passengers. This alternative arrangement aims to minimize congestion caused by buses stopping in the middle of the road. Additionally, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will work towards improving the central area. It is hoped that public transport operators will also cooperate by not halting for excessive periods of time to collect or drop off passengers, thereby avoiding traffic jams and alleviating the public’s travel woes.
The officials stressed that these operational adjustments must prioritize the benefits the public will receive as they adhere to the policy of “Transport for the Happiness of the People.”
