AI Demand Drives Surge in Memory and Storage Stock values
demand for chips fueled by artificial intelligence is causing notable gains for companies specializing in memory and computer storage, according to a report from the Financial Times on January 25, 2026.
The Financial Times noted that data storage companies, frequently enough considered a less prominent sector within IT hardware, have seen their stock values increase substantially as AI infrastructure build-out is projected to exceed $500 billion this year. Read the full report here.
Since the beginning of 2026, shares in SanDisk have doubled and increased nearly 1,100% since August. Micron, Western Digital,and South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix have each tripled in value over the same period.
“By any measure, that’s an eye-watering few months,” said Arun Sai.
