Alexei Navalny: This is how Russians react to the death of the Kremlin critic

Many Russians are shocked by the death of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. In the video they explain what the death of the opposition figure means to them.

The death of Alexei Navalny caused international consternation. “He was slowly murdered by President Putin and his regime,” said EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Vice President Josep Borrell. Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock described the Kremlin critic as a “symbol of a free and democratic Russia.”

People in Russia are also shocked. Russian opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin, who was banned by the election commission from taking part in the presidential election, praised Navalny as “one of the most talented and courageous people in Russia.”

People gathered in several places in Russia in memory of the 47-year-old. The Russian public prosecutor’s office meanwhile called on the population not to hold a mass protest in the center of Moscow because it had not been coordinated.
