Reasons for the Decline
The meaningful decline in profit is primarily attributed to a higher base effect stemming from significant tax gains recognized in the october-December quarter of fiscal year 2025. Specifically, Ambuja cements recorded a write-back of ₹1,179.71 crore, while ACC recorded ₹516.84 crore, both related to tax adjustments from earlier periods. Additionally, Ambuja Cements received a cash refund of ₹203.17 crore with an interest of ₹25.60 crore following the court’s decision.
Financial Details
The company’s profit after tax for the October-December quarter of FY25 stood at ₹2,662.97 crore, as detailed in a regulatory filing. The favorable tax adjustments in the prior year created a challenging comparison for the current quarter’s performance.
