EAST SARAJEVO – Due to the heavy rainfall that has fallen until today, there will be an additional increase in the water level of the rivers in the Una and Sana, Vrbas and Drina basins, while the water level in the Bosna River will be stagnant, according to the data of the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic of Srpska.

Due to the outflow of water from the aforementioned watersheds and the heavy rains that fell in Slovenia and Croatia in the previous days, it is expected that the water levels of the Sava River will rise and then remain high in the coming period, according to the supplementary meteorological and hydrological bulletin.

Due to the cooling in the coming days, it will snow in most areas with the formation and increase of the snow cover, while in the extreme south of Herzegovina there will be light to moderate rain.

There will continue to be heavier precipitation in Montenegro – snow is expected in the interior due to the cooling, and rain along the Adriatic.

The weakening of the rain and its transition to snow will have a positive effect on the hydrological situation and will reduce the pressure on the rivers, the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic of Srpska points out.

According to the data of the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute, heavy rain fell from Monday, January 16, until today, when the precipitation weakened, and with the cooling, the rain turned to snow in the west.

From January 16 to today at 1:00 p.m., the most rain fell in Herzegovina from 130 to 250 liters per square meter, and in the Sarajevo-Romania region, Gornji Podrinje and in the west from 60 to 100 liters of rain per square meter.
