It is reported that they were withdrawn on the orders of Bogra Superintendent of Police on the charge of neglect of duty.

They were withdrawn from Dhunat police station after noon last Monday. This information has been confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station, Rabiul Islam.

The retired policemen are Constables Mottalib and Shahadat Hossain and Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Shahidul Islam.

According to police, miscreants stole an auto van belonging to Abdus Sobhan of Manikpotal village of the upazila from the Mirhitala market area on Monday afternoon. In this situation, they tried to sell the stolen auto van in Mathurapur market of the same area. At that time, if the locals got suspicious, they arrested them and gang-washed them and informed the police station around midnight.
Later, the police went and arrested Minu Mia (36) son of Abdur Rashid of Bhandarbari village of the upazila and Shakil (24) son of Meghai Chan Mia of Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj and Sohag Babu (30) of the same village and took them to the police station. But while preparing to take sick Sohag Babu from Dhunat Police Station to Upazila Health Complex due to mobbing, Sohag Babu escaped from the hands of SI Shahidul Islam at the main gate of police station. In this incident, the owner of the auto van filed a case at the police station on Tuesday. The police sent Minu Mia and Shakeel to Bogra District Jail through the court after showing their arrest in that case.

Auto van driver Abdus Sobhan, the plaintiff in the case, told Ajker newspaper that three people were arrested by the police after recovering the stolen auto van. In between, one named Sohag Babu escaped from the hands of the police.

When asked how the accused escaped, Deputy Inspector (SI) Shahidul Islam told Ajker newspaper, ‘I gave the accused to the custody of two constables. An accused named Sohag Babu escaped from them.’

In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhunat police station Rabiul Islam told Ajker newspaper, “On the orders of the Bogra Superintendent of Police, SI Shahidul Islam and Constables Mottalib and Shahadat Hossain have been withdrawn from the police station and attached to the Bogra Police Lines.”
