Audi has announced that it has acquired a minority stake in the Sauber F1 team.

Audi announced in October that the Swiss Sauber F1 Team would become a “strategic partner” and join the works team in 2026. The engine will be supplied by Audi, while the Sauber F1 Team will continue to built and developed the chassis at its base in Hinnville.

In addition, it announced that it would gradually take over the Sauber F1 team from 2023 and begin participating in F1 as an Audi team in 2026.

The Sauber Group has announced that Audi has started to acquire shares.

“We are proud to announce that Audi has acquired a minority stake in the Sauber Group in January 2023, following the plan outlined last October,” said the Sauber Group in a statement.

“This is an important milestone for Audi’s planned entry into F1 in 2026. The Sauber Group will be a strategic partner for the German brand.”
