While bitcoin’s price swings once deterred Coatue, Laffont noted that its volatility has diminished over time. He suggested that a shrinking beta, a measure of volatility relative to the market, makes bitcoin more appealing.
The embrace of bitcoin by institutional investors, such as BlackRock’s move to launch bitcoin ETFs, signals a maturing market, Laffont said.
