President Yun Seok-yeol left on the 27th to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Madrid, Spain.
President Yoon arrived at Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province at 1:50 pm on the same day and boarded the presidential plane.
President Yoon wore a dark navy suit with a light pink tie, and Mrs. Kim Gun-hee wore a white long-sleeved dress.
On this day, at Seongnam Airport, floor leader Kwon Seong-dong of People’s Power and senior floor leader Song Eon-seok came to see off the president and his wife. Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, Chief of Staff Kim Dae-ki, and Senior Political Affairs Officer Jin-bok Lee were also present.
In this NATO schedule, President Yoon held a total of 14 diplomatic talks, including nine bilateral talks and a meeting of NATO allies and partners, a meeting with the NATO secretary-general, a meeting with the king of Spain, a summit between Korea, the US, and Japan, and a luncheon with Spanish businessmen. Starting with Finland (28th), there will be summit meetings with the Netherlands, Poland, Denmark (29th), and the Czech Republic and the UK (30th). A brief meeting with the European Union (EU) Executive Chairman and the leaders of Canada and Romania will be promoted . Economic and security agendas such as nuclear export (Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands), semiconductors (Netherlands), defense industry (Poland), and renewable energy (Denmark) are on the table.
This NATO summit is President Yun’s first overseas visit and his debut on the multilateral diplomatic stage, who took office on the 10th of last month.
Ms. Kim attends the spouses session. As she accompanied President Yun and her husband, she attends a dinner hosted by the Spanish king and wife (28th) and a Korean-Spanish dinner meeting (29th), and she digests a separate spouse program.
